General Election to Start In 6 Days, Obama Says

The general election between Obama and McCain will begin after the next primary battle in Montana and South Dakota on Tuesday, Obama has said. He believes that his race will begin and he can focus all his attention on the general election. He has already been focused more on the general elections and beating McCain rather than Hillary due to his lead in the democratic primaries. With all of the controversy of the Florida and Michigan elections he has been waiting for the results to come out. It seems as though he is over Hillary and running against her for the democratic nomination and just wants to continue to the white house.

I would probably feel the same as Obama with Clinton not giving up. It must be frustrating to continue using funds that could have been used in the general election where he needs as much support and money as he can get. This has been a great primary race and will continue to be a great presidential election. This year will be remembered as a great year for watching politics and being involved in the voting process.

Bob Barr To Be Libertarian Candidate

The votes are in and Bob Barr is the winner among the Libertarian party. Barr is a former Georgia congressman that left the republican party in 2006 after he decided that bloated spending and civil liberty intrusions weren't things he agreed with. He says that he doesn't want to run to take away votes from the democratic side. ''I'm a competitor and I'm in this to win. I do not view the role of the Libertarian Party to be a spoiler and I certainly have no intention of being a spoiler,'' Barr said. I think its hard to run as a libertarian and not know that you are going to take votes away from the other parties.

McCain is Healthy and Cancer Free

John McCain has come out with his clean bill of health. Many were worried because of McCain's age and previous cancer bouts that electing him to Presidency was a bit risky. He would be the oldest elected president, as he turns 72 in August. There are always fears of electing someone that might not be able to serve the whole term due to age/health. McCain had to put his bill of health out there too show people not to fear his age and that he would be fine to serve his term out in full.

Still there is a lot of talk about who his VP would be, just in case he doesn't make it through somehow. Mitt Romney is one of the hopefuls that is being talked about which makes sense because of his younger age and his candidacy for the presidency. Whomever McCain chooses they must be able to run the country even thought the clean bill of health came out. Age is a factor even with no current health problems.

I'm Not Bush

This is a political cartoon depicting John McCain in the front with president Bush in the background. McCain is trying to say that he isn't like Bush because no one wants to elect someone that is like Bush. That is why Obama is doing so well with his "vote for change" slogan.

The problem is, McCain is similar to Bush which is why he is trying to distance himself from Bush. He is trying to tell everyone all the differences between the two even if the differences are completely irrelevant. I think McCain will have a hard time being elected if people are comparing him to Bush.

McCain's Flip-Flopping Video

Its always interesting to see video contradictions of a person saying one thing at one time and then the opposite another time. Presidential candidate John McCain has done these things several times. This youtube video show that McCain can't keep his thoughts straight or maybe he is just pleasing the audience who is watching.

The worst part about the video was the part about McCain saying he wasn't strong in the economic sector, he has more of the military background. Oh great, so we are in a recession that doesnt look like it's getting any better and McCain, if elected, won't know how to handle it. That's a nice thought. A republican in office will do nothing but hurt us even more. We need a change to ensure that the United States doesn't go up in a ball of flames. McCain isn't the guy to do that.

Clinton Wins In Huge Defeat In Kentucky

It is projected that Clinton will win in a huge landslide over Obama in Kentucky primaries today. With over 47% of polls reporting it is 58% Clinton with ony 38% Obama.

Even though Obama has come within about 100 delegate votes for the nomination Clinton keeps getting wins in the recent primaries. No word about the Oregon primaries yet, that might give some insight on the political weight of the Kentucky win. If Clinton wins both of these, it might prove to be a hard road for Obama. It will be a hard road anyways but it will just make it that much harder to gain the respect of the voters.

There Can Only Be One

So true... I love how Obama speaks eloquently and with facts about a general topic while Clinton talks about herself and how she is doing. Clinton often comes off like she is entitled in her speeches and the way she carries herself which comes across in this Saturday Night Live parody. I like the way they contrasted themselves by the split screen as well showing that they are still similar even if they are viewed as drastically different.

Obama Has Visited 57 States?!

HAHAHA.... If you are going to be our next president of the United States I think you should know how many states are in it... This might be one of the best mess-ups ever.

I wonder if people are going to take this comment too seriously and say that Obama is not up to being president. Look at president Bush and his comments about Nuclear and Nuculer. And that comment is far from being his only mess-up in office.

Obviously people mess up. It is hilarious on the other hand and I'm sure people will be giving him shit for a long time to come. 57 states haha, didn't we learn in elementary school how many states there were?

McCain Predicts Iraq War To Be Won By 2013

if he is elected president. "By January 2013, America has welcomed home most of the servicemen and women who have sacrificed terribly so that America might be secure in her freedom. The Iraq War has been won," (John McCain). He did not outline a plan of action but just a fantasy 5 year plan.

He also said that Osama Bin Laden would be caught and killed by then. I figure, if we haven't caught him yet, it's going to take a lot of dedication to find him by then. The Taliban isn't just Osama, there is a whole group of people that want death and destruction. McCain is living in a fantasy world with these predictions and I love how he doesn't say how he will attain these goals. No timeline, no course of action, no real solutions to the problem, just pure illusion. Or delusion on his part.

Democratic Race Heats Up

Looks like the battle of the candidates is going to continue full force. With Hillary Clinton's win in West Virginia she is gaining delegates and momentum on to the next primary race. Next Tuesday's race with Kentucky and Oregon will be crucial for the ultimate selection of the democratic nominee.

One thing that will help Obama is John Edwards' endorsement. Edwards declared his endorsement of Obama over Clinton which comes as a huge boost to the Obama campaign. Edwards was Kerry's vice president running mate in the 2004 election and has a following with white, blue collar workers, an area that Obama is having a little bit of trouble with. Hopefully for Obama this will rally some more votes over to his side.

Obama Girl Switching Sides?

Mike Gravel has gotten the Obama girl to do a video with him as the libertarian party presidential nominee. If Obama girl really loved Obama she would have stayed away from this venture. Gravel, if on the presidential ballot, will take away votes from Obama in the race because independent nominees always take away democrats votes. The Obama girl should know that this is a risky move on her part to pump up the campaign of another presidential candidate.

McCain to Acknowledge Climate Change If Elected

John McCain has announced that he will be combating greenhouses gases and creating change with our current situation. He said if elected he wouldn't ignore the problem for 8 years, taking a shot at the current administration. President Bush has speculated if the emission crisis even exists and has done nothing about the situation. Republicans like to pretend that their isn't a problem because doing something about it leads to some profit loss in the business sector.

At least McCain is acknowledging there is a problem. Hopefully, if elected, he will do something about the situation and not just use this as a platform to get elected. At least president Bush never acknowledged the issue and kept with his stance the whole way through. Not that his stance was right or good for the country but at least he was honest.

I don't know. If I were Hillary right now, worried that my run is over, I would make sure that my appearances were funny and memorable. This was just boring, the writing was boring and totally unfunny. Clinton was a machine, like usual, with no emotion whatsoever. Obama could have made something out of this dry material.

So I came across a story about different scenarios that would have to happen in order for Obama not to get the democratic presidential nominee. Here are just a few of them:

'Yes We Can' Obama Video

Not gonna lie, this video was really good. It is hard for me to get emotional or touched by something but I thought this video was wonderfully done. It took Obama's words and slogans and turned it into a song with artists and celebrities singing/speaking the words all while the clips were in black and white. Black and white can make anything more dramatic and sentimental. This video shows how people can come together for a common good and do something great. Maybe this video influenced someone into voting or seeing a different side of Obama that they had never seen or heard before. If only all the candidates could get a video like this one...

Verdict Is In, Should Clinton Throw In The Towel?

So Obama pulled it off in North Carolina with a huge victory. He overtook Clinton by about 200,000 votes or so. This is a huge gap which shows he can get the attention of the voters.

Indiana on the other hand, was not such a huge victory. Clinton won by nearly 20,000 votes in Indiana, showing that she barely had the majority. This demonstrates her inability to capture a following quite like Obama. She definitely needs to think about stepping down in order to let Obama get the following that he needs in order to defeat McCain in the fall elections.

Close Race In Indiana and North Carolina

The democratic candidates are both in need of delegates in order to secure the nomination. The Primary elections today in Indiana and North Carolina offer 187 delegates to the winner of the elections if both states are won. Although the race is close, it is projected that Obama will come out with North Carolina and Clinton will get Indiana. A split would bring Obama closer to the nomination but it wouldn't make Clinton step down either.


Clinton is in dire need of getting as many delegates as she can at this point so not getting North Carolina is a huge disappointment for her. But it is still early in the polls so this might be off a little. Even if Clinton gets the 75 delegates from Indiana she doesn't really have much of a chance of winning enough delegates to get the democratic nominee. And like i said in an earlier post, she doesn't look like she is going to give up any time soon.

Obama's Patriotism in Question

Barack Obama has been frequently questioned about his patriotism because his views are different than most politicians. He does not wear an American Flag pin on his lapel like the other candidates which has caused some people to ask about his patriotism. He responds that he doesn't need a pin to show his love of something, he can use words to fix the problem or show his love.

I understand this. If I was job interviewing for a position with Bill Gates and other candidates were wearing a windows symbol pin on their lapel, it doesn't mean I would. I would be able to talk to Bill and say why I am the bigger supporter and I deserve the job. I wouldn't need a pin to say it.

Another thing Obama has been criticized for was not putting his hand over his heart during the pledge of allegiance. This had been widely discredited. They were actually listening to the national anthem, not the pledge of allegiance. But there when there are still questions about patriotism, this point is still brought up.

I think Obama is refreshing. He stands for things that most of the younger generation feels are right. Patriotism can be shown in many ways, not just by traditional methods. If I were tested on these things I would probably be shown to be unpatriotic. Give me a chance to explain how I feel about my country and I would pass. Not everything has to be explained in tradition.

Huffinton Post Claims McCain Stumbles Over Words

The Huffington Post is an online news website and aggregated weblog that was put together over the past couple of years in order to keep people up to date about the latest news. The good thing about getting news online is that it is in real time. People can see things as they happen and see them over and over again. The bad thing is that some things get overplayed way to much. This can change the way people see a politician or celebrity. Now bloggers are trying to catch anything a candidate says that might be somewhat/somehow politically incorrect.

In the Huffington Post there is an article about how John McCain said "My friends, I will have an energy policy that we will be talking about, which will eliminate our dependence on oil from the Middle East that will - that will then prevent us - that will prevent us from having ever to send our young men and women into conflict again in the Middle East". It kind of implies that we went into Iraq for Oil interests only. We all know this was at least part of the case. The post is trying to say that McCain said this and then was questioned about the "again" in his statement. He explained that he meant in the Gulf War. But then when later asked he said it was not the Gulf War he was talking about. Good God. I understand that this is a huge contradiction but come on. Its not that big of a deal. Yes, he messed up, but that doesnt mean we have to castrate the man.

Guam Excited Over Democratic Candidate Race

When I think about the United States and the upcoming election, Guam doesn't really come to mind. Guam was bought for 20 million dollars back in 1898 from Spain and was built up and used for a refueling and communication center until Japan invaded the territory in 1941. The United States recaptured Guam from Japan control in 1944 and Guam has been a United States territory ever since.


Guaminians, even though they hold no delegates for the Presidential election, can send delegates to the Democratic convention. This election is extensively followed due to the bitter rivalry between the democratic nominees. Guam will have 8 delegates that count for half a vote each to help decide the outcome of the nominee. Guam usually has 1500 democrats that vote in elections but there is an estimated 4000 that are going to vote in the upcoming election. It shows how important every vote is to the campaign and how exciting politics are at this point in time.

Lastest Poll Shows Demo Candidates Neck and Neck

A CNN poll has now come out saying that Obama is losing support. Apparently, in a past poll Obama had a lead of 52% over Hillary's 45% but in a recent poll Obama's number dropped to 46% while Hillary's number has stayed the same. I wonder if this drop is due to the controversy over Jeremiah Wright or because Clinton's slanderous campaign has actually deterred voters. The upcoming primaries are going to be crucial for both candidates.

Meanwhile, another poll showed that 6% of the democrats don't want to vote for Obama or Clinton. This number was zero in the last poll. Maybe people are getting tired of these candidates, I know with all the advertisements and back and forth politicking, I am getting tired of it.
